Yorkshire business supplies technology for Merseyside plant expansion
Leading waste management specialist Avanti Environmental group has invested in new technology for the expansion of its plant in Knowsley, Merseyside.
The extended facility is due for commissioning in 2016 and will create additional jobs.
Following extensive industry research, the Avanti team has selected a system from North Yorkshire based UNTHA UK, including an UNTHA XR3000 waste shredder with precise cutting concept, plus in-feed and discharge conveyors, and cross-belt magnets.
Launched in the UK in 2014, the XR Cutter will transform Avanti’s residual waste into a high specification fuel. UNTHA’s flexible technology will also consume considerably less power than competing machines, without compromising throughputs.
Commenting on the investment Avanti’s Group Recycling Director Steve Kinley said: “We are delighted with this newfound opportunity to produce a clean, refined product, in a single pass and with utmost simplicity. UNTHA’s competitors described this machine as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of shredding technology, which is exactly what we were looking for, in our advanced production plant.
“Avanti’s on-site laboratory and QA testing facility will ensure consistent production streams with homogenous ‘on specification’ fuel quality. This has the potential to unlock further resource progress in the UK and wider Europe. We look forward to playing a key role in driving that progress, and ensuring standards are upheld in the process.”
