Bowcliffe Hall hosts £13m classic car collection to boost awareness of The Prince’s Trust

Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham has hosted a unique event for business leaders which displayed some of the world’s most prestigious and luxurious cars in aid of The Prince’s Trust

The collection of rare and unique classic vehicles - estimated to be worth £13m - included a 1914 Day-Leeds vintage automobile which is believed to be the only surviving example of just 300 built by Leeds-based John Day and Sons.

The Yorkshire office of wealth management specialist, UBS, hosted the ‘Concours’ event at the grade II listed Hall where attendees heard about the wealth of inspirational projects spearheaded by The Prince’s Trust which supports 13 to 30 year olds who are unemployed as well as those who are struggling at school and at risk of exclusion.

Business representatives were also treated to a three-course meal at Bowcliffe Drivers’ Club - a private members club for business tenants and guests - which is part of a £6m multi-phase transformation of Bowcliffe Hall and which captures the golden age of motoring.

The 200 year-old Bowcliffe Hall - the headquarters of the Bayford Group - is the ancestral home of aviation pioneer Robert Blackburn, the first Yorkshireman to design and build a powered aeroplane. The Hall has played host to many distinguished guests including aircraft pioneers, media proprietors, RAF officials and national politicians such as Amy Johnson, Lord Northcliffe and Winston Churchill.

The multi-million pound project also features the award-winning Blackburn Wing conference and event venue which is shaped like an aeroplane wing and described as a ‘tour de force’ by judges.

Jonathan Turner, CEO of The Bayford Group, said: “This was a wonderful opportunity to help raised the profile of The Prince’s Trust and to introduce potential benefactors to the critical work carried out by The Prince’s Trust which gives young people the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives.”
