Escrick Park to host a magical wedding weekend

Teepee or not teepee? That is the question at the award-winning Escrick Park this weekend (October 10-11), when the estate is teaming up with Yorkshire teepee specialists PapaKata for two days of magical wedding planning. The gates open at 10.00am on both days.

Papakata, based in Sherburn-in-Elmet, are now the UK’s leading suppliers of teepees, which are proving increasingly popular at weddings across the country.

Helen Pentith of Escrick Park commented: “We have forged a superb relationship with Papakata during the past few years and it is very encouraging to see a Yorkshire company establishing such a reputation for excellence across the country.

“Both Papakata’s popular teepees and their exclusive, sophisticated Sperry tents will be on display in Escrick Park’s picturesque surroundings so visitors can see how beautiful they are in our wedding venue. We are looking forward to welcoming visitors, who can have a leisurely stroll around and enjoy some tasty food and drink too.

“Our glorious Woodland Wedding area, underneath the bows of 17th century oaks, will also be dressed and open for visitors to see. This site has had three weddings this summer and is getting increasingly popular for an outdoor ceremony amid our rolling green parkland with panoramic views,” explained Helen.

“Escrick Park offers glorious uninterrupted views across the former deer park and open landscape stretching for miles. The grounds are mostly facing south, providing a very special location for a wedding.

“Couples love the wide open space and blank canvas of parkland to plan their special day. With the addition of our new woodland wedding area for humanist ceremonies and within the park area, this is set in an ancient oak clearing and provides room for up to 100 people. The beautiful archway is crafted from dried oak branches to create a special and magical space for wedding vows,” she explained.

’The woodland is just a short walk from where the tents are pitched so once the marriage ceremony is over guests can stroll back for the wedding reception,“ she added.

Escrick Estate is a traditional private estate, which has been lovingly owned and nurtured by the Forbes Adam family for over 300 years to create a natural sanctuary and parkland.
