Jobs saved as Foodpack Limited acquires St Helens-based Kapak
Food packing firm Kapak has been acquired by Foodpack Limited, saving 150 jobs at its St Helens facility.
Foodpack Limited, sweeping in to buy the company from administrators FRP Advisory LLP, was backed by a £7.5m investment and support package from corporate finance firm Seneca Partners and Secure Trust Bank.
Following the acquisition, Kapak will continue to operate from its base on Abbotsfield Industrial Estate in St Helens.
Food industry professionals Alistair Marsden and Anthony Hitchen have joined the venture as senior directors and will sit on Foodpack Limited’s board.
Alistair Marsden, who has previously worked as a managing director for two North West-based food companies, said: “The business has a committed and skilled workforce, supported by a strong management team, which when combined with state-of-the-art production facilities creates a strong base from which to support existing customers and grow the business.
“We are excited about the future for Foodpack and are looking forward to working with the existing team and customers.”
Sharon Harrison, Richard Robinson and Jane Haymes, of Lancashire law firm Napthens, acted for Seneca on the deal.
Joint administrator Ben Woolrych commented: “We’re delighted to have secured the future of this key North West business, preserving the 150 jobs and providing continuity of supply for its loyal customer base. We wish Foodpack Limited and everyone involved in it every success for the future.”
