Morris & Spottiswood boosts fleet with seven-figure investment
Fit-out contractor Morris & Spottiswood has taken advantage of recent growth to invest £1m in a new fleet of vans.
The Warrington-based firm, which also has operations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Leeds, will make the seven-figure investment over the next four years in an effort to reduce its dependence on hired vehicles and improve reliability.
Morris & Spottiswood’s 66 new vans, all of which are branded with the names of famous double acts such as Tom & Jerry and Batman & Robin, are either Ford Fiestas or Transits, with the exception of one Volkswagen van for the firm’s flooring division.
The company’s base in Garret House will see eight of the new vans, while the other vehicles will be split across its Leeds facility, its team in east Scotland and its maintenance and mechanical and electrical (M&E) divisions.
Last year, Morris & Spottiswood doubled sales figures in its M&E division. The firm, which has a turnover of £74.4m, is this year planning to increase its income from work in the North from £19.5m to £35m by renewing its focus on key sectors such as education, healthcare, banking and retail and commercial space.
