Liverpool John Lennon Airport reports Q3 passenger growth

The number of holidaymakers using Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) increased again in the third quarter of 2015.

The airport’s Q3 results showed a 7% increase, while September marked the facility’s seventh consecutive month of passenger growth. Across the first three quarters of 2015, passenger levels were found to have grown year-on-year by 6%.

Bosses at the airport have put the figures down to a recent upsurge in carriers offering additional routes from Liverpool.

Romanian budget carrier Blue Air is the latest airline to expand its presence at LJLA, revealing Cluj as its third destination available to the region’s holidaymakers from June next year.

LJLA’s CEO, Andrew Cornish, said: “This is an exciting time for the airport with airlines such as Blue Air recognising the tremendous opportunities available to grow their business from here.

“Over the past 12 months we have secured flights from five new airlines, announced 12 new services to eight new destinations, bringing over 90 additional flights per week.”
