Refurbished historic York mill now almost fully let
An historic York granary mill, which has been transformed into high-quality Grade A offices, is now almost fully let.
Following several new deals at Mill House, previously occupied by the City of York Council, there is only one office suite of 1,745 sq ft available to lease.
East Yorkshire-based construction company Houlton spent £750k on refurbishing the 16,000 sq ft Mill House in North Street by the banks of the River Ouse.
Following this refurbishment, North Yorkshire Police signed a 30-year lease with Houlton for 4,000 sq ft of prime office space on the ground floor of Mill House.
In addition, Carillion Construction, AGH Engineering, Colas Rail Ltd and Qa Research have all moved into the four-storey building.
York property consultancy Lawrence Hannah and London-based agency Behrens Sharp are marketing Mill House.
Miles Lawrence of Lawrence Hannah said: “These deals, featuring strong leases at good rents, are a ringing endorsement of the quality of the refurbishment of Mill House and its excellent location.
“The City of York Council had occupied Mill House since the late 1990s and inevitably it needed tender loving care. The comprehensive refurbishment, which includes full air-conditioning, open plan offices, a brand-new reception area and lift, together with new kitchens and toilets, created high-specification office space fit for the 21st century.
“Mill House’s location, within the heart of York city centre at the bottom of Micklegate with its junction to Bridge Street, is superb. There is generous and secure on-site parking, with cycle bays, and it is only a five-minute walk to York Station”.
There is now just 1,745 sq ft of space available in Suite 2 at a rent of £28k per year.
Mr Lawrence added: “It is not surprising there has been such a strong take-up at Mill House, because this is a special building. The combination of modern offices, with flexible floorplates, within a classic historic setting has proved extremely attractive.”
