Sheffield specalist law firm to launch startup business specifc services

A Sheffield law firm is set to branch out in to services specific to startup businesses, as part of its expansion plans.

In-House Solicitors, which is based in the city’s Innovation Centre, specialises in the provision of legal advice and support via a network of remote working experienced lawyers.

Founded last year by corporate and commercial solicitor Toby Harper, the law firm is making the move in response to increased demand from early stage businesses for access to quality legal services at reasonable prices.

In-House are preparing to launch a range of new services, one of which is specific to start-up businesses with investment potential and growth plans, with particular interest to work with technology-based or market disruptive companies.

UK Steel Enterprise’s Innovation Centre became the home of In-House Solicitors in December 2014 with just a team of one. Due to the centre’s support network and growth opportunities, the solicitors now provides work for 20 people offering high quality legal advice to a range of organisations.

Located in the heart of Sheffield, the Centre provides serviced office space and workshops available for rent to support the needs of new or growing businesses.

Toby Harper, founder and CEO of In-House Solicitors, said: “We have benefitted greatly from our relationship with UK Steel Enterprise. The ability to have access to a manned reception, visitors facilities and meeting rooms on starting the firm allowed us to look professional and ‘feel’ like a business from day one.

“Access to high speed broadband, high quality telecommunications and digital cabling systems coupled with a tremendous work environment and easy access for staff and clients alike means that we now have a solid foundation for further growth and can look forward to the businesses future with confidence.”

In addition, In-House has also renewed every single client’s retainer arrangement, following a successful first 12 months agreement with clients. These include space technology company Oxford Space Systems, specialist digital media and technology sector investor Ascension Ventures and a number of universities.

Toby added: “Over the last year the company has concluded a range of deals ranging from investments from tens of thousands to multi-million pounds worth, with clients including investors, Venture Capital companies, investor backed companies, university spinouts, AIM listed, OMBs and SMEs. The creation of a new service specifically for young and ambitious businesses is a sensible extension to our market proposition”

Allan Wood from UK Steel Enterprise who manages the Innovation Centre, also commented: “It is fantastic to see such success from a tenant at the centre, particularly a start-up business which has grown exponentially from small beginnings.

“We are proud of all the businesses at the centre and it’s great to contribute in some way to their journey of expansion, development and, ultimately, succeed. We’ve helped over 100 businesses through the centre and look forward to working with many more.”
