South Tyneside’s 1st Restaurant Week Gets Underway
Diners of all ages are being given the chance to enjoy an affordable array of new and familiar dishes as part of the first ever South Tyneside Restaurant Week, which is now underway.
The inaugural initiative, organised by South Tyneside Council, is running in eateries across the borough until Saturday (October 10), with visitors enjoying a range of special two and three course menus, starting from £8.50.
Those taking part, including restaurants in Boldon, Jarrow, Hebburn and South Shields, have each developed their own unique offering, giving diners the opportunity to sample a wide range of cuisines from around the world.
This includes Lebanese at Grill and Chill, Spanish-style Tapas at The Riverside, Indian at Café India and Italian at Ristorante Bravi, which is serving a different selection of dishes every day throughout the week.
A number of venues, including The Black Horse, The Lakeside Inn and Marsden Grotto, are also offering their own take on contemporary cuisine, with each offering a wide range of dishes such as Cajun salmon, black pudding and sticky toffee pudding.
Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “There are more than 28 venues taking part in South Tyneside Restaurant Week 2015, not only offering a wide range of foods but participating from right across the borough.
“We hope that this will encourage diners from South Tyneside and further afield to take advantage of the special offers available until Saturday and to come and sample some of the fantastic cuisine that the borough has to offer.”
