Plans submitted for extended Lake District lodge development
Architects have submitted a planning application to extend a lodge development on the border between Lancashire and Cumbria.
Work to transform the old Tewitfield fisheries land near Carnforth and build 30 lodges started earlier this year, but London-headquartered accommodation provider Lodge Quest now plans to construct a further 23 three-bedroom lodges on the 26-acre site.
Lancaster firm Harrison Pitt Architects is delivering the design and construction of the development, which will be called Twin Lakes Country Club when it opens in 2016.
Harrison Pitt Architects director Richard Wooldridge said: “The lodges are designed to have high energy-efficiency and are built with timber from sustainable sources.
“They will provide top-quality accommodation and can only enhance the tourism facilities available in the area.”
He added: “This is a prestigious scheme for a growing provider of luxury leisure breaks and we’re proud to add it to our growing portfolio of home and luxury lodge developments.”
The site’s lake, which will be the focus of the upcoming leisure park, is being landscaped to connect it with the area’s cycle routes and footpaths, while parking and recreational facilities are also being added.
A Lodge Quest spokesperson commented: “We are extremely proud to be working with Harrison Pitt on this exciting project, which we hope will become an example of what can be achieved with high quality developments in the area.
“Working with Harrison Pitt Architects on the construction, as well as renowned interior designer Karen Gray, we have created a unique offering that blends beautiful architecture and design with the natural environment, complementing the local landscape to create a unique holiday experience.”
The Twin Lakes Country Club development will serve as a blueprint for Lodge Quest’s other UK projects, according to the spokesperson.
A planning decision on the 23-lodge expansion is likely to be given before the end of the year.
