Halewood International snaps up distribution rights to Pogues whiskey
Independent alcoholic drinks firm Halewood International has signed a long-term global distribution agreement with Ireland-based West Cork Distillers.
The deal will see the Merseyside-headquartered manufacturer, which owns the Crabbie’s ginger beer and Red Square Vodka brands, distributing a new Irish whiskey created by Celtic punk band The Pogues.
Furthermore Halewood International, which sponsored Liverpool International Music Festival earlier this year, will make The Pogues’ whiskey and several other brands available in China, South Africa and Romania.
Catherine Meardon, an international marketing manager with Halewood International, said of the deal: “We’re delighted to be distributing The Pogues whiskey; a quality product with such an iconic brand gives us a versatile audience, from whiskey connoisseurs to music fans and those early adopters looking for the next hot spirit.
“We’ve already received huge interest both on and off-trade and we’re excited about the increased attention we’ll receive in the run up to Christmas.”
The founder of Skibberdeen-based West Cork Distillers, John O’Connell, commented: “Being independent we have much synergy with Halewood International.
“The company’s creative outlook and impressive global infrastructure gives us great confidence at this key time for our brands.”
