Local travel agent named as ‘One to Watch’

Amble based travel agent Lizzie Adamson-Brown, running her own business as part of leading independent travel company Travel Counsellors, is celebrating after the company was featured in The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 ‘Ones to Watch’ league table this month. Top Track 250 ranks Britain’s mid-market growth private companies with the biggest sales and this is the first time the independent, global travel company has been recognised on this prestigious list. Lizzie is thrilled that Travel Counsellors has been acknowledged for their impressive and continued growth in sales.

Lizzie began her leisure and corporate travel business from her home office in February 2013. Since then, she has built up an impressive customer base and her business continues to grow year on year.

Lizzie attributes her success to the unique approach of Travel Counsellors that is based on personal relationships, ensuring that the right thing is done for the customer no matter what. “I know each and every one of my customers inside out. I know if they prefer a window seat on the plane, the type of accommodation that best suits their children, and their love of Thai restaurants. This intimate knowledge of their travel preferences, coupled with travel expertise, global contacts, and outstanding 24 hour support from Head Office means that I can delight my customers with the perfect travel experience every time. The international company operates across seven markets: UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, UAE, and most recently, Belgium. Global sales for the financial year end (31 October 2014) reached £416 million, and the organisation is on track to exceed financial targets in 2015. Currently over 1400 Travel Counsellors manage their own businesses, with a surge of new travel professionals joining Lizzie this year.

The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table ranks Britain’s mid-market growth private companies with the greatest sales, compiled by Fast Track and published in The Sunday Times in October. Recent companies featured on the list include Virgin Active, Pret A Manger, and ao.com. Earlier this year, Travel Counsellors was recognised for their international growth in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, and was listed in The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 in 2014.
