Businesses ‘Print Pink’ for Breast Cancer Care

BUSINESSES are being urged to ‘Print Pink’ during October to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Care, the national breast cancer charity.

The ‘Print Pink’ initiative has been organised by online retailer Cartridge People and encourages businesses to send pink coloured emails and print documents in pink ink during October. Cartridge People is undertaking an array of activities during October, which is breast cancer awareness month, to raise more than £5,000 for Breast Cancer Care which is the only UK wide charity providing care, information and support to people affected by breast cancer.

One in eight women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in women in the UK and nearly 12,000 people die from the disease every year. Breast cancer also affects men and around 400 are diagnosed each year.

‘Print Pink’ was launched by ex-British Army platoon commander Rick Martin-Bacon who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014.

Mr Martin-Bacon, who is now an ambassador for Breast Cancer Care, said: “I’m delighted to launch this campaign to raise funds and awareness about breast cancer. It’s an opportunity to spread the word that men develop breast cancer too and encourage men to get themselves checked. We hope businesses will get behind this campaign and contribute to the work we undertake.”

Andrew Davies, spokesperson for Cartridge People, said: “We’re proud to play our part in wanting every person affected by breast cancer to get the best treatment, information and support. The work of Breast Cancer Care is vital for supporting families who are impacted by breast cancer and help to provide much needed help to those in need.”
