Coda celebrates launch of Manchester office

AWARD winning Sheffield architectural practice Coda Studios is celebrating its 12th anniversary and another year of successful expansion with the launch of a Manchester office.

The company, which has its headquarters in the historic Kelham Island industrial quarter in Sheffield, already has an office in Leeds.

Coda has now taken a 600 square foot space at Lloyd House in Lloyd Street in Manchester city centre where a new team will be headed by Coda associate directors Jamie Hanson and Matt Bowker.

A fresh recruitment process will see the team strengthen its position in the North West in the coming months.

Current clients in the Manchester region include Knight Knox International, which Coda is currently advising on its development of a 133-apartment scheme in Trafford Road, and a 38-flat development in Hyde Park Corner, both in Salford.

“The launch of our Manchester office will enable us to strengthen our position in the main northern economic powerhouses and especially give us fresh opportunities to develop our portfolio of clients in the North West,” said Coda managing director David Cross.

“We are currently working on the development of more than 500 apartments in the Greater Manchester area as part of four major projects.

“In addition we are also working on some exciting commercial developments in all three key cities and are confident that the coming months will see even further expansion for all sectors of the Coda brand.

“We were born in the north, we know the north and we are all proud to say we are all avid urbanites with a passion for rediscovering and developing city sites, bringing new life and growth to urban areas.

“In real terms we are still a very young practice but as we celebrate our 12th anniversary we feel we have come of age and now have a reputation and track record to match our enthusiasm.”

Coda has enjoyed its most successful year since 2007, when the recession hit the construction industry badly.

“We have weathered that storm and emerged safely from the other side,” said David.

“We have been consistently busier since 2013 and the jobs are getting bigger all the time.

“We have felt the tide turning and as well as our many exciting jobs in Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and across the north we also now have projects both nationally and internationally.”
