Conveyor firm Sovex delivers multi-million pound Deutsche Post contract

Transport conveyor manufacturer Sovex has seen its European sales rise after delivering a conveyor system for one of the world’s largest courier companies.

The Merseyside firm provided Germany’s Deutsche Post DHL with a parcel-handling system and has since had a number of multi-million pound orders.

Sovex, which is based in Prenton, on the Wirral, received an initial order of 125 conveyors after creating several prototypes. Now, the postal firm has placed a further order for 38 telescopic conveyors, with 33 of its German depots already using over 200 of Sovex’s carrying systems.

Sovex European MD Gijs Kurvers said of the deal: “Deutsche Post requested a parcel-handling system which would help maintain its position as world number one.

“Working with the customer we created a prototype of the Space Saver Boom – a single vehicle loading system that saves space to enable forklift trucks, roller cages and pallet trucks to get past.”

He added: “Our engineering team spent six months developing it. It was a real team effort.”

Sovex has previously worked with a number of other courier companies, including Hermes and DPD.

David Lindfield, the firm’s executive chairman, commented: “Sovex has experienced rapid growth in recent years.

“But by continuing to break into new European markets we can continue to create new products and services and further enhance our offering.”
