Wykeland Beal appointed as developer for Hull marina regeneration

Hull City Council has appointed Wykeland Beal Limited as the lead developer partner for the Fruit Market regeneration on the city’s Marina.

Wykeland Group and Beal Homes formed a joint venture company to deliver the project and have now been selected to bring forward a programme of regeneration across Hull’s waterfront location, combining a mix of residential and commercial development.

The project will see the development of approximately 2.78 ha of land for over 100 new homes and new commercial opportunities, which will build upon the council’s investment in the refurbishment of properties based along Humber Street, creating a commercial and arts-based cultural quarter in the city centre.

Councillor Steven Bayes, Portfolio Holder for Visitor Destination, said: “Today’s decision marks a milestone in the ongoing regeneration of Hull and it is hoped will help towards the revitalisation of the city centre by creating a cluster for arts, independent retail, leisure and digital and creative industries.

“A vision for the Fruit Market has been developed in partnership with Wykeland Beal to ensure that this unique and historic area is regenerated, maintained and contributes towards delivering a world-class visitor destination for the UK City of Culture and beyond, paving the way for future economic prosperity.”

Richard Beal, MD and Chairman of Beal Homes, added: “We are delighted, following many months of legal work, that the Fruit Market regeneration project will be delivered, in partnership with Hull City Council, by two of Hull’s most established property development companies Beal Homes and Wykeland Group.”
