Quick Play Sport aims for business growth with £400k loan

A sports equipment company is shooting for business growth after moving into larger premises.

Quick Play Sport Limited has relocated into a new 16,000 sq ft building in Sheffield following a six-figure funding deal with NatWest.

The business was started in 2006 by William Parsons and Allen Holland who created and patented a new type of football goal called The Kickster which comes in two sizes: The Kickster 2000 and 3600.

After rejecting an investment on Dragon’s Den, Quick Play Sport continued to expand its product line and currently supplies merchandise to Tesco, Costco and John Lewis.

In addition, the business has also launched a new phone app called ECOACH which delivers pro-standard e-coaching on tablets and smartphones. The coaching includes development in all areas of users’ games with drills focussed on passing, shooting, control, dribbling, volley and free kicks.

With an expanding product line, Quick Play Sport management decided to purchase new premises as they had been working from four separate units in Sheffield. They turned to NatWest relationship manager Richard Carl who supported them with a £400k loan.

Steve Crosby, chairman of Quick Play Sport, said: “Having one site for the whole business will make us more efficient and allow us to develop, display and store our products in one place. Richard has been very good to work with. He has an old-fashioned banking ethos around customer service. If you ask him a query, he gets back in touch with you which gives you confidence as a customer.“

Richard said: “I was delighted to support Quick Play Sport on the purchase of new premises. The business continues to go from strength to strength, and the new premises will allow the business to continue to achieve its growth aspirations.“

Quick Play Sport had an annual turnover of £2.5m last year, which is expected to exceed that this year, and also make a £400k profit. The company currently trades in 30 countries.
