Samuel Grant Group relocates operations following LEP grant
Packaging company Samuel Grant Group has relocated into new premises after securing £150k of funding.
The new £5m warehouse and operations centre is located on a 6.75 acre site at Thornes Farm, within the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone.
Samuel Grant received a grant of £150k from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) towards the cost of the new premises, which will expand the company’s warehousing capacity by 50%
The company secured the grant with the assistance of Yorkshire accountant Garbutt + Elliott, and as a result, Spencer Grant has been able to build and move to a new, energy efficient warehouse from its former site in Beeston.
This move also led to an increase in turnover by 9% and a reduction in overheads.
Andrew Grant, managing director at Samuel Grant Group, said: “Garbutt + Elliott was intrinsic to our grant application success, which helped towards the bespoke construction of our new warehouse in the Leeds City Enterprise Zone.
“Our new premises will allow our business to grow as we come into our 125th year of trading and are busier than ever. The new warehouse has helped to make our processes and logistics more efficient, and create new jobs and opportunities for the region.
“Thanks to the expertise at G+E we have maximised on the funding available to us and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.”
Thornes Farm is one of four sites in the 142 hectare Enterprise Zone, located just outside Leeds city centre along the route of the A63 with direct access to the national motorway via junction 45 of the M1. Samuel Grant also has offices in Sheffield and Newcastle.
Tariq Javaid, corporate finance director at Garbutt + Elliott, commented: “We take great pride in assisting our clients with their growth strategies and were delighted to be able to pass on our expertise in this area to Samuel Grant and make a real tangible difference to them.
“This is a fantastic funding scheme and one that can help businesses achieve their growth ambitions as well as increasing employment in the region. If businesses are considering any large capital projects they may well be able to take advantage of this grant funding.”
Established in York over 150 years ago, Garbutt + Elliott has offices in York and Leeds and employs more than 100 people, including eight partners.
Current Garbutt + Elliott clients include York Racecourse, Bill Plant Driving School, Thai restaurant chain Chaophraya, and concrete block and block paving manufacturer Plasmor.
