WSR Recycling celebrates 25 years with record turnover
Widnes based recycling and resource management company, WSR Recycling, has announced major growth in turnover following an ‘exceptional year’ of trading.
Turnover for the financial year to September 2015 stands at £10.7 million, 100 per cent up on its 2013/14 financial year.
Growth has been delivered through its existing contracts with regional local authorities such as Halton Council, Warrington Council and the Merseyside Waste and Recycling Authority and through its strong relationships with large waste management firms like: Biffa, FCC Environment, Sita, Veolia and Viridor.
In the last year, WSR has added contracts with Biffa, Sita and Viridor to its client portfolio which has helped boost turnover. The company has also been appointed by Merseylink to manage the waste material from the £1.75 billion Mersey Gateway bridge project in Halton.
By sheer coincidence, the company’s forbear was responsible for the management of materials during the construction of the Jubilee Bridge in the 1960s which the Mersey Gateway scheme is designed to relieve congestion from.
Established in 1990 and run by husband and wife team Nick and Amanda Prescott, the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the announcement of its strong trading figures.
Managing Director, Nick Prescott said: “The last twelve months have truly been remarkable for us. It really has been an exceptional year which has allowed us to build on our established relationships and bring in new business.
“Our model has been to extract as much value from the materials we are asked to handle on our customers behalf. This not only helps them achieve their landfill diversion targets, it makes best use of these resources and drives material up the waste hierarchy.”
“This commercial mind-set serves us well and our customers know they will receive an exemplary service so they keep coming back.”
The company employs around 45 full time personnel from its Ditton Road HQ where it processes 200,000 tonnes of commercial & industrial, municipal and construction & demolition waste per annum.
