North Yorkshire country hall opens for business

Rudby Hall, in Hutton Rudby near Stokesley, is officially launching its corporate facilities by holding a special event for local businesses as it starts a recruitment process.

To mark a year since its opening, the award-winning former royal home is launching its dedicated corporate facilities as well as recruiting new team members to manage that side of the business.

Rudby Hall has recently started working with hospitality expert, Sue Briggs, who has over 20 years’ experience with leading hotels and venues all over the UK. Sue, originally from Guisborough, specialises in the corporate markets and will be assisting Rudby Hall with its development plans in the coming months.

Local businesses are being invited to attend a special VIP event being held on November 12th offering the opportunity to view the luxury venue and its accommodation, meet the team behind it and enjoy drinks and canapés.

As well as ample free parking and a range of reception rooms for dinners, events and meetings, Rudby Hall is home to vast grounds, various lounges with traditional, open fires, a cosy bar and 13 suites featuring luxury facilities such as high speed broadband, wi-fi and flat screen TVs.

The country hall which is Grade II*-listed- putting it in the top 7% of all listed properties in the UK- dates back to the 19th century and was a former Royal residence built for King William IV’s daughter, Lady Amelia Cary.

Martin Johnson, who runs the hall with his wife Sandra, said: “Since we opened last year, weddings and intimate events have really taken off with many already in the diary for 2016 and 2017. We have held a number of corporate events too but we have spent the summer improving our business facilities and what we offer, which is something quite different.

“Our meetings and events spaces are full of history combined all the mod-cons the corporate world requires- and more. The tranquil setting is ideal for private meetings, product launches and for re-energising staff and colleagues to improve productivity, yet the hall is so easy to reach from all the main roads, railway stations and airports. We hope the special launch event will give businesses the chance to discover Rudby Hall and take a look behind the scenes.”

Over the summer, Rudby Hall received global recognition for its consistently high standards as it was named as a TripAdvisor Service Excellence Winner for 2015. The award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve impressive reviews. The award itself is based on the reviews provided by guests giving top ratings for service standards.

The business employs a team of eight which could rise to ten in the coming year and, in addition, Rudby Hall will be able to increase its work with local suppliers including Howard’s in Stokesley, The Bay Horse in Hutton Rudby, CWC Events, First Class Wedding Company, Darling and Green Florists and Stokesley Taxis.

Husband and wife team Martin and Sandra Johnson, who run the hall and themselves live on site with their family. Rudby Hall, restored by Teesside based regeneration specialists Python Properties, has hosted a range of dignitaries over the years, such as MPs, Prime Ministers and members of the Royal family. The historic home hit the headlines last year when Liam Gallagher and his partner, Debbie Gwyther, were among the first to stay whilst attending a wedding in the area.

Businesses can reserve a place at the free event on November 12th by contacting sue.briggs@rudbyhall.comor calling Rudby Hall on 01642 701839.
