GentooTolent raise over £200 for Percy Hedley Foundation

The Percy Hedley Foundation was delighted to accept a cheque for £204 thanks to the fundraising efforts of Gentoo Tolent.

Paul Webster, Managing Director of the North-East based Construction Company, presented the cheque to Sheila Coltman and some students from Percy Hedley’s Student Council this week.

The money will go towards helping Percy Hedley provide specialist equipment for its services and improve and expand its facilities to reach as many people as possible that need its support.

Paul Webster, Managing Director of Gentoo Tolent, said: “I was delighted to present the students of Percy Hedley College with this cheque, knowing what a fantastic and hardworking charity this is.

“At Gentoo Tolent, we like to demonstrate how we’re able to contribute more than just construction work in the North East and taking opportunities to raise money for local charities is one way we can do this.”

Gentoo Tolent held a Rugby World Cup event at the start of October to raise the funds, held at the Pitcher and Piano on Newcastle’s quayside.

Sheila Coltman, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the Percy Hedley Foundation, said: “Our work with local companies such as Gentoo Tolent is vital to us and really does make a difference. Without their support and help, which comes in many shapes and forms, we could not continue to offer as many services to disabled people and we are extremely grateful for everything they do for us”

Tolent Construction, the parent company of Gentoo Tolent, has just this month completed a £3.2m extension of the Percy Hedley Foundation Achievement Campus.

The work included a new hydrotherapy pool and the construction of a 24-bed residential unit, to cater for those pupils and families who use the schools facilities but live outside of the North East.

The Percy Hedley Foundation supports approximately 1000 disabled children, young people and adults and delivers around 1,000,000 hours of care each year through its services.
