Global law firm to create 100 jobs in Sheffield

Fragomen Worldwide has announced plans to establish a second UK office in Sheffield, creating more than 100 new jobs over the next 12 to 18 months, and more than 50 in 2016 alone.

The legal services provider, which has more than 40 offices around the world, advises clients on their immigration needs and represents clients in a variety of industries across all sizes from sole traders and private clients to large multinational corporations and FTSE 100s.

Caron Pope, UK managing partner commented: “This new office enables the firm to meet the growing demand for our services and provides greater access to new markets in the UK. By selecting Sheffield, the firm benefits from close proximity to the UK Home Office, leading UK universities and businesses outside of London.

Our two offices in the UK will enable us to continue to grow and diversify services across the country.“

Councillor Leigh Bramall, Deputy Leader of Sheffield City Council and Cabinet Member for Business Skills and Development, remarked: “This is fantastic news for Sheffield and a great opportunity for people looking for their next career move. Over 100 new jobs will be created; offering roles for many people within the city and proving that yet again, a major global company has the confidence in the people of Sheffield and their skills and knowledge.”

Fragomen is experiencing significant growth, resulting in the need to establish a second UK office.

With an established City of London presence, the firm was keen to look outside London to establish a second office.

Nik Hamilton, Investment Team Manager at Creative Sheffield, added: “This is a great result after several months of hard work and collaboration between Fragomen, Sheffield City Council, Creative Sheffield and other partners.

“The development will boost the profile of Sheffield as a premier location for legal firms and illustrates the city’s cost effectiveness when compared with London and the South East.”

The firm is taking 12,000 square feet of floorspace in Saville House, a prominent landmark building situated at a key gateway into the city centre.

Recruitment in Sheffield for the new positions is set to begin immediately with Coordinator, Senior Coordinator and Supervising Consultant roles already being advertised on Fragomen’s website.
