Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to establish long-term base in Salford

Multinational law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is set to establish a long-term base in Greater Manchester by doubling the size of its current office in the area.

The company, which has offices across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America, has signed up for 80,000 sq ft of space at One New Bailey in Salford.

The deal will see the Salford premises replace the 40,000 sq ft that Freshfields leased in July at Arndale House in Manchester, after relocating its back office services to the North.

Staff are due to move into the new site in early 2017, according to the Law Society Gazette.

Freshfields’ global centre director, Anup Kollanethu, said: “One New Bailey gives us both the high-quality and attractive location we want for our staff.

“We have been extremely impressed by the premises in the Manchester area.”

Commenting on the announcement, Salford mayor Ian Stewart said it is “exciting news” that Freshfields chose Salford as the location for its global services centre.

He said: “We welcome the creation of new jobs in Salford and the city council is ready to work with the firm to make their staff welcome and to assist with recruitment support.”
