Manchester United shakes up senior management with new CFO

Manchester United has announced the appointment of Cliff Baty as its new chief financial officer.

Mr Baty is set to join United from pool betting operator Sportech plc, where he has worked since 2013 as the company’s CFO and served on the board of directors.

United’s executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Cliff to the club.

“He is a proven finance executive who brings a wealth of international business experience, and will be an excellent addition to our senior management team.”

Before working at Sportech, Mr Baty held various senior roles in the e-gaming and international arms of betting firm Ladbrokes plc, as well as its businesses in Italy, South Africa and Spain.

Prior to Ladbrokes, he was hotel operator Hilton Group plc’s group financial controller.

Mr Baty also spent 10 years at Ernst & Young, where he qualified as a chartered accountant.
