Hurst's Stockport office

Accountancy firm Hurst chooses contractor for six-figure refurb

Accountancy and business advisory firm Hurst has appointed Morecambe-based contractor Contact One to deliver a six-figure refurb at its main Stockport office.

Set to start in November and take around 12 weeks to complete, the work will see Hurst’s 10,000 sq ft Lancashire Gate premises overhauled.

Contact One was chosen as the main contractor following a three-way pitch, while Baker Roberts was appointed as quantity surveyor and Manchester-based Sheila Bird Group as interior designer.

Tim Potter, Hurst’s chief executive, said: “Our Stockport office has served us well but we need to create space for more staff as we grow, with nine people joining Hurst before Christmas this year and substantial further recruitment in the pipeline.

“The project also gives us the opportunity to bring our business services and tax teams together on one floor, creating a more effective working environment.”

He added: “Overall, the refurbishment should meet our needs for many years to come.”

Contact One will create a new reception area and flexible working space, extend the building’s seminar suite to increase its capacity by 20 and convert loft space into an area for breaks and informal working.

Hurst currently has 70 members of staff based at its Stockport office, but the refurb will give the site space for up to 120 employees.
