Bowker Motor Group establishes new Preston HQ
A six-figure project to build a Bowker Motor Group dealership in Preston is now complete.
The two-storey motorbike showroom at Riversway Docks, which has created 10 new jobs, comprises 12,809 sq ft of space and will serve as the auto dealer’s administrative and marketing headquarters.
Preston-based architectural practice Cassidy + Ashton provided designs for the new facility, while building firm JK Beardsworth carried out construction work, including a 4,632 sq ft extension of the former Preston Docks customs office property.
Known as Bowker Motorrad, the showroom has a BMW Motorrad centre on the ground floor with space for up to 40 display bikes, in addition to workshop and servicing facilities.
Bowker Motor Group’s chief executive, Paul Bowker, said: “The new dealership follows an exciting period of expansion over the past few years and we’re grateful to Cassidy + Ashton and all those involved for helping us to reach this point.
“The building will be seen by thousands of Prestonians every day and have a massive impact on the landmark site in the city.”
The new showroom is the company’s 10th dealership.
Lawrence McBurney, an associate architect with Cassidy + Ashton, which delivered an £800k redesign of dining facilities at Bolton School earlier this month, commented: “This scheme was an interesting one for us as it not only needed to work from a quality commercial perspective but also meet the needs of the head office staff.
“The new showroom is a landmark addition to Bowker’s lucrative dealership portfolio and with its eye-catching design and prominent positioning, we are confident that it will drive forward the group’s presence in the motorcycle industry.”
