Liverpool FC sign new partnership to engage Chinese fans
Liverpool FC are hoping to increase their engagement with Chinese fans after signing a new deal with media firm Tencent Sports.
The partnership will see the Reds’ brand featured on the Chinese text and voice messaging app WeChat, potentially strengthening its presence in the East Asian state.
Publicised earlier this week during Liverpool’s match against Southampton, in which a message was displayed on the pitch-side LED screens calling on Chinese fans to engage with the club using the WeChat messaging service, the deal follows other measures taken by Liverpool in recent months to shore up its digital presence.
In September, the club formed a new digital partnership with Cyprus-headquartered trading platform Banc De Binary.
