Lowry Hotel completes £4m overhaul

Greater Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel has completed a seven-figure refurbishment project

The 165-bedroom Salford hotel, which changed hands last September in a multi-million pound deal, has undergone a £4m revamp to install Wi-Fi and Smart TVs, refurbish its public areas and introduce new works of art.

General Manager Adrian Ellis said that healthy financial results fuelled the refurbishment, which the hotel plans to follow up next year by overhauling its spa and banqueting suites.

He added: “The refurbishment is […] a vote of confidence in the future of Manchester as a leading business and visitor destination.”

Interior design firm JRP was involved in the project, as was Manchester-based Cliq Designs, which provided soft furnishings for the guest rooms.

RHA Furniture carried out upholstery and reupholstery work at its factory in Nottingham, while Chesterfield-based Northern Lights provided lighting features.

Mike Godfrey, the head designer at JRP, commented: “We thought it fitting that The Lowry Hotel, based in what was once the heartland of manufacturing and industry, should be able to contribute to the local manufacturing economy.

“We managed to do this without compromising on quality and have been able to select beautiful products that look as though they have been sourced from the far corners of the globe.”
