Brewster Bye Crowned best architectural practice

Leeds-based Brewster Bye Architects has been named the ‘Best Architectural Practice’ at this years’ Yorkshire Residential Property Awards.

The awards, which are organised by The Yorkshire Region of Variety - a charity that supports sick, disabled and disadvantaged children in the UK - celebrate the best operators in the residential property market.

Brewster Bye fought off competition from two other short-listed firms to be crowned winners at the sell-out black-tie award ceremony which was held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds.

Managing director Chris Austin says: “We are thrilled with this award. A large proportion of our business is in the residential property sector, with a varied portfolio that ranges from one-off builds for private individuals, through to large-scale luxury schemes like St Leonard’s Place development in York for Rushbond PLC, and the market-leading regeneration sites in Doncaster at The Gables and Lakeside for Muse Developments.

“Through all of these projects we ensure that we deliver a first class service combined with high quality, often award winning, designs that successfully blend aesthetics, functionality and deliverability.

“We are also renowned for our public sector work and have longstanding relationships with a number of housing associations across the country. Two of our projects were also nominated and short-listed at the awards – one was an affordable homes scheme in Leeds that saw a historic former Victorian house transformed into 13 stunning apartments and two new family houses at The Lomonds, in Burley for Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association, and the other for Yorkshire Housing where we designed 29 affordable family homes in the village of Darfield.”

Hundreds of the region’s property professionals attended the event, to celebrate the many achievements and the undisputed excellence of businesses in the Yorkshire residential property sector. £80,000 was raised for the Children’s Charity on the night.

Chris adds: “The award-win cements our reputation as one of the leading architectural practices in our field, and it was a real pleasure to see so many of our valued clients share in our success.”

Brewster Bye was established 23 years ago in Leeds and is based in Headingley. The firm employs 23 staff and has seen consecutive year-on-year growth in a range of sectors including the residential and commercial property markets, education, health, community enterprise and the arts, as well as the sports and leisure industries.
