Fletchers Solicitors sponsors record breaking Headway Golf Day
Fletchers Solicitors, a leading serious injury and medical negligence law firm, sponsored Headway Preston and Chorley’s annual Golf Day, which raised a record breaking £7,000.
The annual Headway Golf Day, which Fletchers has been sponsoring since it was created by the Preston and Chorley branch in 2011, took place at the Hesketh Golf Club in Southport on 24 September 2015.
Several local and national businesses took part in the event, which included a day of golf, dinner and a charity auction to raise much-needed funds for the charity, which provides support for people who have suffered a head injury.
The day started with 10 businesses competing head to head in a golf tournament. Following a day on the course, guests were then treated to an evening of entertainment including a magician and a charity auction. The night was rounded off with a presentation, where Abbey Legal was crowned the worthy winners of the tournament.
The event helped to raise a staggering £7,000, which will be used to fund the Headway services and ensure that head injury sufferers continue to receive the necessary support needed after discharge from hospital.
Liz Bamber, project manager for Headway in Preston, said: “On behalf of the staff, volunteers and clients of Headway Preston and Chorley, I would like to thank Fletchers Solicitors for its ongoing support. We rely solely on fundraising to keep the charity going, and the amount raised represents a fifth of our annual income so this is a tremendous boost to our funds.
Sarah Charnley, a solicitor at Fletchers Solicitors and chairperson for Headway Preston and Chorley, said: “I am delighted that we have managed to raise a fantastic amount on our fourth annual golf day. A big thank you goes to everyone who attended the event and to Hesketh Golf Club, who again provided such wonderful hospitality.
“We have sponsored the event every year since 2011, and have been firm supporters of Headway for a number of years. We are committed to supporting the excellent work that the charity does and will continue to offer our assistance to improve the services available to those who have suffered a brain injury.”
Headway works to improve the lives of those who have suffered from a brain injury. It offers facilities so they can meet others in a similar situation, be provided with a support network and have good access to practical and legal advice. Its mission is to increase understanding and awareness of brain injury and its consequences whilst providing information and support to all those affected by brain injury. Headway also works to reduce the occurrence of brain injury through cycle safe and drive safe campaigns.
