£120m Flemingate retail centre opens in Beverley
Beverly’s new £120m Flemingate shopping and leisure destination is now open for business.
The Wykeland Group development, which is 162,561 sq ft, offers a range of brands, including Debenhams’ flagship department store, The Entertainer, Wilko, Card Factory, and Guest & Philips, a Beverley-based jeweller.
Along with the new stores, customers can also visit Costa, Deli No.1, and Patisserie Valerie, which has opened a café on Debenhams’ first floor.
Dominic Gibbons, managing director of Wykeland Group, said: “We are delighted to have opened. Flemingate looks fantastic, our retailers and cafés have done a spectacular job, and the feedback from visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. Flemingate has been ten years in the making, but this opening is a just reward for all of the hard work from everyone involved.
“Flemingate was conceived to be very much a part of Beverley, to extend the town centre, add even more reasons to visit the town, and to provide a further boost to Beverley’s economy. The opening was a major step in achieving that, and we have more to come.”
Rob Hadfield, property director at Debenhams, added: “We are delighted to have opened our new Flemingate store. We have been working very closely with the team at Wykeland since we first committed to the centre more than two years ago. We share their focus on delivering a great experience for visitors, one that will encourage them to return again and again.”
The initial phase of Flemingate will be followed on November 9 by the opening of Bolo, the local independent fashion brand, and H&M, with Trespass and Poundland following in mid-November.
In addition, the new six-screen, 1,000-seat, Parkway cinema will launch in December, along with more new shops and restaurants, including Outfit. An 80-room Premier Inn, 500-space multi-storey car park, the largest in Beverley, a new campus for East Riding College, and 130 homes complete Flemingate development.
