Plan to create 5000 North West jobs reaches new milestone
Business Finance Solutions (BFS) is this week celebrating a new milestone as the North West delivery partner for the government’s Start Up Loan programme.
The organisation has revealed that, to date, it has provided £7.5m in loans and financial support to the region’s startups and helped more than 1300 entrepreneurs launch new business ventures.
Paul Breen, the director at BFS, which is part of the Manchester Growth Company, commented: “BFS was at the forefront of Start Up Loans when David Cameron launched the programme here in the North West three years ago.
“Today we are hugely proud to be celebrating the investment of over £7.5m into the region – money that has helped more than 1300 people to set up businesses that otherwise simply would not exist.”
A further £7.5m will be lent to North West startups over the next two years.
Tim Sawyer, the CEO and chairman of the Start Up Loan Company, which is responsible for the initiative, said: “Having successfully reached the halfway point of the £15m North West loan allocation we’ve […] proved that we’re in this for the long term.
“The companies that we have helped to get off the ground are now creating jobs, building communities and helping to shape lives for this highly competitive economic era.”
BFS has helped a number of North West startups access funding in the last two months alone, including a trampoline park in Bolton and a Hyde-based creative agency.
