Spooky Halloween goes down a treat with Scarborough nursery

Happy Jays embraced Halloween this year by transforming its Scarborough nursery into a haunted house, complete with a slimy spaghetti swamp, wicked witches poison potion and a pumpkin piñata.

The pre-schoolers and nursery staff alike donned their spookiest costumes, with witches, vampires, pumpkins, skeletons, and even a Frankenstein baby in attendance.

Danielle Speight, nursery manager, said: “We enjoy celebrating Halloween because the children love it, especially the preschool children. They like pretending to be scary, getting stuck into all the messy activities and having lots of fun joining in with the party games.”

Activities included pumpkin carving, apple bobbing, and baking spooky buns and pumpkin-shaped biscuits, as well as traditional party games - all washed down with a gruesome tea party featuring smelly jelly and eye scream monster munch balls.

Tony Gernon, MD of the Happy Jays group of nurseries, commented: “Across all our nurseries we are proud to provide an excellent standard of care and learning whilst ensuring the children enjoy their time with us. Tactile activities such as apple bobbing and baking Halloween treats are a source of real enjoyment for the children, as well as being part of their learning and development.”
