Taylor&Emmet recruits contentious probate expert
Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is launching a new contentious probate team, headed up by one of the region’s leading specialists, Alex Watkinson.
Alex joins the firm as a partner to extend its existing wills and probate services, offering assistance to those wishing to challenge the distribution of a family member’s assets.
Anthony Long, Taylor&Emmet’s chief executive, said: “More people than ever are contesting the allocation of inheritance, even when a will is in place. To meet this growing demand and the increasingly complex and technical nature of disputes, we have decided to invest in a dedicated contentious probate department. Alex is regarded highly by clients and fellow professionals alike and I have no doubt he has the experience, ambition and enthusiasm to help us become the go to firm in this field.”
Having worked previously at Bell and Buxton in Sheffield, Alex is recognised for his skills in resolving disputes concerning the validity of a will, trusts, Court of Protection matters and Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act claims. He is also one of only four members of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists in the city.
Alex added: “I am excited to be joining a growing firm with the systems and support in place to help me spread the word about my new contentious probate team. Taylor&Emmet has an excellent reputation for its wills and probate work and I am sure my expertise will complement and enhance the advice already provided to clients. Everyone has been extremely welcoming and I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
