West End retailers pioneer delivery service ahead of Christmas rush

Retailers across London’s West End are preparing for the Christmas rush by launching Dropit, a new shopping service that allows shoppers to have all their bags delivered to their door, on the same day, in one drop - anywhere in the UK.

Dropit has seen the number of retailers signing up its service triple every week since it launched and retailer demand is soaring as the Christmas trading period approaches.

Dropit partners with stores and streets to create a network effect by combining multiple bags from various stores and collating them into one delivery for the shopper. Purchased items can be left in-store or at a street-side Dropit kiosk and are collected and delivered to a shopper’s home or hotel in one go, at the requested delivery time anywhere across the UK.

According to initial research by Dropit, 57% of West End shoppers would spend more if a delivery service was offered, so retailers are signing up to offer the service in hopes to capture this increased spend opportunity.

Karin Cabili, Dropit’s founder commented: “The ease of online shopping is moving consumers away from the high street. Dropit revitalises the offline retail experience to entice shoppers back in stores, allowing them to see, try and buy items from multiple stores without having to carry their bags, knowing their purchases will be delivered safely to their home or hotel.

“We offer retailers a store-to-door delivery solution which doesn’t see them lose out on subsiding delivery costs.”

Following a pilot on Regent Street in association with The Crown Estate, Dropit is now being introduced in streets and stores across London’s West End in preparation for the surge in festive footfall.

In addition to the street side points, participating stores now include Liberty, GAP, Armani Exchange, Barbour, Camper, Charles Tyrwhitt, Hunter, Jaeger, Karen Millen, Lacoste, River Island and Wolford.
