Don’t miss our Industrial Heritage Conference
Three of the UK’s leading heritage organisations are teaming up to deliver a two-day conference on the re-use of industrial heritage buildings, featuring a host of high-profile and expert speakers.
The Prince’s Regeneration Trust, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic England are together hosting the conference - Reviving Places By Reusing Industrial Heritage - on the 1st and 2nd December at Manchester’s Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI). Make sure you don’t miss out by booking now.
Speakers include:
- Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive, Manchester City Council
- Tom Walker, Director of Cities & Local Growth Unit, DCLG/BIS/Cabinet Office
- Jonathan Robinson, The Guardian
- Rohan Silva, former Number 10 Special Adviser and Co-Founder, Second Home
- Tom Bloxham MBE, Chairman and Co-Founder, Urban Splash
- Duncan Wilson OBE, Chief Executive, Historic England
- Carole Souter CBE, Chief Executive, Heritage Lottery Fund
- Ros Kerslake, Chief Executive, The Prince’s Regeneration Trust
- Sally MacDonald, Director, MOSI
- Rowan Moore, the Observer’s architecture critic, is chairing a debate
The conference will examine the challenges and benefits of re-using vacant and at-risk industrial heritage buildings, such as former warehouses and factories. A key theme is how such buildings can provide a great return on investment for developers and, when restored for use as businesses or new homes, can also boost an area’s economic growth. Industrial heritage buildings are particularly suitable for use by the creative industries - an important growth sector in the UK. The conference aims to offer local authorities, developers, investors, community-led and not-for-profit organisations helpful advice and guidance from leading figures in the sector.
The conference marks the fact that 2015 is European Industrial and Technical Heritage Year.
One- and two-day conference tickets are available. The first day is aimed at investors and local and national decision-makers and the second at community groups and building owners.
Tickets can be booked at the dedicated conference website ih2015.org.uk or by calling 020 3262 0560 (during office hours).
