Historic Teesside hall unveils opening plans
The team behind Acklam Hall has announced details about the launch as the historic restoration project nears completion.
The Grade I listed building will open its doors in February 2016 following a complex renovation spanning over 18 months to restore dozens of its original rooms and features to their original grandeur.
Acklam Hall will be home to a restaurant, four unique function suites for weddings and other special events, 18 serviced offices and a number of state-of-the-art conference and meeting room facilities.
The re-development of the 17th Century building will create over 20 new jobs in Middlesbrough as well as opportunities for dozens of local suppliers.
The multi-million pound redevelopment, by Acklam Hall Limited, has seen the complete restoration of the building, which dates back to the 1680s and was home to Teesside’s Hustler family for almost 250 years, before becoming a school in the 1930s.
The owners have also revealed further details about Acklam Hall’s restaurant, The Brierley, named after the architect Walter Brierley who designed the alterations to the hall in 1912.
The Brierley will serve classic, homemade dishes from breakfast and lunch through to afternoon tea and dinner, using seasonal products from local suppliers. For special occasions, there are also a number of private dining rooms.
Other notable rooms within Acklam Hall include: - The Drawing Room with its spectacular ceiling and views of Middlesbrough’s famous ‘Avenue of Trees’, which will be available for larger celebrations of up to 120 guests such as wedding breakfasts and evening receptions, conferences and larger business events; The Parlour, which will be used for private dining and civil ceremonies; and The Boudoir, which will be used for smaller celebrations and functions.
Martin Williams, from Acklam Hall Ltd, said: “Acklam Hall is one of the most recognisable buildings on Teesside and very much loved by the local community, many of whom went to school there or had family who did. We’ve spent many months very carefully restoring the hall with some of the best experts in the field and dozens of original features are now back to their former glory.
“The interest in what Acklam Hall will have to offer has been phenomenal and we have a number of weddings and events already booked for 2016 and 2017. We’re offering something very different in a majestic setting full of history whether you’re looking for a large, corporate event, wedding or special occasion, dining or drinks with friends or prestigious office space. We have had an impressive response from high profile applicants for roles within the restaurant and the kitchen team which will be announced in the coming weeks.”
