Yorkshire businesses highlight local produce at festive fair

To celebrate the fourth annual Country Living Christmas Fair returning to Harrogate, an award-winning, all-female barbershop chorus will be singing Christmas songs throughout the town.

The White Rosettes will be spreading festive cheer on 27 November in three secret Harrogate locations to be revealed on the day, via @CLFairs on Twitter, using the hashtag #SingingforCountryLiving. Country Living Fairs will be handing out a select number of complementary tickets to those who spot the singing group.

The fair itself will take place from 3 to 6 December in what will be Country Living’s fourth festive event at the Harrogate International Centre.

The four-day Christmas shopping destination, will offer visitors the opportunity to attend demonstrations with experts from Bettys Cookery School and Goldsborough Hall in the Christmas, Cookery and Craft & Create theatres, featuring tips on seasonal home décor and the perfect Christmas lunch. This year’s fair sees a return to the importance of supporting local crafts, interiors, gift and food suppliers and trade with many of the 300 stands showcasing handmade or British-sourced products.

First time exhibitors include Doncaster-based The Ivy Cottage, a family-owned online boutique founded by sisters Katie Mays and Amy France, which specialises in upcycled furniture and gifts.

The duo will be joined by The Little Red Berry Company which creates unique liqueurs using fruits sourced from local producers, at the company’s base in Ripon. Founder of the company, Rachel Jameson, said: “I visited the Country Living Christmas Fair last year and knew it would be the perfect place for visitors to try our award-winning flavoured liqueurs, particularly ahead of the festive party season. We’re really proud that the majority of our fruit comes from Yorkshire farmers so we’re looking forward to sharing our locally produced liqueurs with everyone.”

Returning to the fair for a second year is textile artist and illustrator Laura Park with her Dear Prudence product range featuring hand-drawn Christmas cards, gift wrap and stationery designed at her York home.

Advance tickets are priced at £11 for adults and £8 for children or VIP packages, group tickets and subscriber savings are available from www.countrylivingfair.com/harrogate or call 0844 848 0152.
