Ryanair reveals Summer 2016 schedule from John Lennon Airport

Irish airline Ryanair has unveiled its schedule of flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) for Summer 2016.

Launching its schedule today (November 26), the carrier will offer 29 routes, including a twice weekly service to Reus and a four daily flights to Dublin.

Ryanair’s head of communications, Robin Kiely, commented: “Our customers can look forward to further improvements in the coming months, including our personalised website, with exciting new digital features such as ‘hold the fare’ and real customer destination reviews, under our ‘Always Getting Better’ programme.”

The launch comes as the firm celebrates 10 years of operating a Liverpool base. The firm first began conducting flights to and from the city in 1988 and, since then, has carried over 24m customers on the service.

LJLA’s head of PR, Robin Tudor, said: “It only seems like yesterday that Ryanair made Liverpool one of their major UK bases and over the past 10 years they have given passengers from across the region the opportunity to fly to a fantastic range of destinations and at some of the lowest fares, all with the added convenience and hassle free benefits of flying from Liverpool.

“Ryanair’s continued commitment to Liverpool will mean another busy summer here next year and we look forward to working with Ryanair over the next 10 years.”

The head of tourism at destination marketing organisation Marketing Liverpool, Steven Small, said Ryanair has played a “key role” in Liverpool’s growing status as a visitor destination.

He said: “Although Ryanair have been operating into Liverpool for almost 30 years, the decision to base aircraft here a decade ago was a massive milestone for the airport and given the positive impact on our visitor economy over that time it’s an achievement definitely worth celebrating.

“It’s no surprise that Ryanair have continued to grow since 2005 and I foresee many more passengers and hopefully even more routes to Liverpool in the forthcoming decade.”
