Manchester United stars strike partnership with Singaporean firm

Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have entered into a joint venture with Rowsley Ltd, a property investment company based in Singapore, to drive their plans for a new Manchester venue.

The two former Manchester United players will work with Rowsley to transform the Northern Stock Exchange building on Kent Street into a hotel and restaurant.

As part of the project, Rowsley and the firm that owns the building, Finestday Limited, will renovate the property and create a new roof terrace.

Gary Neville said of the deal: “We’re very excited to be working on yet another project with the Rowsley team and look forward to strengthening this fantastic partnership.

“The Stock Exchange is a gem of a building and a big part of Manchester’s History. We have some exciting plans and can’t wait to implement them.”

The move is the latest in a string of deals involving Rowsley, with the firm previously taking a majority share in GG Collection, a hotel management company, as well as football-themed venues Hotel Football and Café Football.

Lock Wai Han, the CEO of Rowsley, commented: “This is one of the most iconic buildings in Manchester and we are excited with its potential.

“The city is at the heart of the UK government’s Northern Powerhouse initiative to boost economic growth in north England and we expect our real estate and hotel investments to benefit from the increased business momentum that is already very visible.”

He added: “This acquisition is also in line with our strategy to develop and acquire good hotels in choice locations.”

Constructed in 1906, the property is listed on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

Manchester-based commercial law firm Kuits advised FinestDay Ltd during the deal.

Rob Buckley, Kuits’ head of corporate and commercial, said: “We are proud to act for Gary and Ryan as they continue to draw investment into the city.”

The hotel is due to open its doors in 2017.
