Accountants create video for Christmas greeting
A firm of accountants and business advisers is giving clients a Christmas greeting with a difference – by creating and starring in a pop video.
Haslingden-based Cassons has become well known for its unique approach to Christmas and hope the video, a parody of the 1999 Lou Bega hit Mambo No. 5, will bring a seasonal smile to the faces of their clients and friends across the world.
The video, which stars partners and staff from every department of the firm, reveals some of the team’s hidden talents and party pieces, including juggling, magic tricks, gymnastics and dancing. It can be viewed on the Cassons website on YouTube channel, CassonsAccountants.
Les Nutter, Managing Partner at Cassons, said: “Over the last 10 years Cassons’ Christmas greetings have become something of a tradition for our people and clients alike – we like to do something fun and outside of what is normally expected from accountants.
“Everyone loves our Christmas greeting and from September onwards we receive messages from clients and friends asking what we are doing for our Christmas video and when they’ll see it.
“This is the fifth Christmas video we’ve filmed, so it seemed appropriate to do Cassons’ own version of Mambo No. 5. We’ve rewritten the lyrics of the song to make it very personal to us. The lyrics reference the work we do for our clients and they also match team members’ hidden talents, many of which were discovered at the firm’s Christmas party! Although you may not guess it, virtually all of the filming took place at our Lancashire office.”
Cassons became an internet sensation two years ago when their ‘Holding Out for a Hero’ video, which showed the firm saving a client from a mountain of paperwork, attracted over 10,000 views worldwide.
Les, who appears in the latest film playing a trombone with other Cassons partners as part of the horn section, added: “It’s all about having fun and showing people a different, unexpected aspect to the business.”
Audit and accounts senior Simon Read, whose first day at Cassons in 2014 coincided with the filming of last year’s Christmas video, said: “It was a bit of a shock when I arrived to start work at Cassons 12 months ago and found the staff were making a Christmas video.”
Simon, who shows off his magic skills in this year’s video added: “Taking part this year has been great fun – everyone has been really enthusiastic and it’s been exciting to find out the amazing talents some of my colleagues have – they really are up for anything.”
Filmed over 3 days by Shooters Media based in Oswaldtwistle, the production features the vocals of Blackburn musician Bryony Hamer, and the acting talents of Manchester’s Gemma Hepworth who plays the role of the singer. The musical instruments featured in the video were borrowed from Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School - a local school that Cassons have built a partnership with through Business in the Community.
