No nightmare before Christmas for Scott Logic

A local software firm is bucking the usual seasonal recruitment lull[1] this December, with six new hires joining its ranks.

Before Christmas, Scott Logic, a growing consultancy based in Newcastle’s St James’ Gate, will welcome three software developers, two senior developers and a senior marketing executive to complete its impressive headcount increase for 2015. Not only that, but there’s a pipeline of nine confirmed new starters for Q1 2016 so far.

Several of the new members of the Scott Logic team studied in the region, or have chosen to relocate here from other areas in the UK. The company, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 2015, started the year with around 140 staff, and by mid-month, will have almost 190 after the last of the six December hires join its Newcastle and Bristol offices respectively. This figure also doesn’t include the firm’s paid summer interns, who have now returned to their studies after completing their paid placements.

Recruitment Manager John Wright explained: “December is traditionally seen as a slow month for recruitment and it’s relatively rare to be busy in terms of new starters joining this close to Christmas, so we’re delighted to have avoided this seasonal dip in activity.

“Rather, we’ve seen talented applicants come forward, not just for technical roles at Scott Logic at all levels of seniority, but also to join our vital support functions, and we’ve been fortunate not only to secure these six individuals in post, but in developing a strong and steady pipeline of people who will start at the company early in the new year.”

Daniel Drozdzewski, who studied at Newcastle University, has relocated to Newcastle from Sheffield after a five-year absence, to work as a Senior Software Developer. He said:

“I am very excited at this opportunity and the fact that myself and my family are back in the North East. This is not just a new chapter, but more like new book in my personal and professional life, and I believe Scott Logic is a great place for it.”

Robert Sherwood, who studied at Durham University, has joined Scott Logic’s Edinburgh office as a Senior Developer. He said: “As Christmas approached I found job opportunities in software development were few and far between. I’ve been lucky to join Scott Logic in terms of both timing and – it seems so far after three days – the job itself.”

Scarlett Wilson, who has joined as Senior Marketing Executive based in Newcastle, has also just relocated to the region from Chester. She added:

“I knew before starting my job search that the Christmas period is a notoriously quiet time, so I was over the moon when I was offered the job at Scott Logic. I’m excited to see what 2016 holds for such an ambitious company.”

Scott Logic continues to recruit for a number of roles to help it achieve its ambitious growth targets. Visit its vacancies page for further information. For more information on Scott Logic and its services, visit scottlogic.com.
