Northern Secrets Gets Social in the Middle East

Northern Secrets hosted two sisters from Kuwait whose travel videos are an internet sensation.

Visiting as part of the VisitBritain #nothingnicer campaign which aims to attarct more visitors to all parts of the country, Northern Secrets managing director Alex Jacobs organised and hosted a very special trip around the North East and Yorkshire for the two young women from Kuwait.

The two sisters have their own YouTube channel ‘Alkhattaf Sisters’ where they post travel videos in which they aim to show places in their own special way.

Lulua Khattaf is a landscape photographer with over 241,000 followers on Instagram and with her sister, Hessa Khattaf, their videos have been viewed over 6.3m times on YouTube.

On arrival in Newcastle they said they were expecting to do and see something new and special – adding that they were particularly looking forward to seeing the English countryside for the first time. The diverse itinerary didn’t disappoint and included making bread at Blackfriars in Newcastle and chocolate in York, gliding in Yorkshire, canyoning in the Durham Dales, as well as experiencing the best dining and shopping that the regions have to offer.

So far, they have posted four videos on YouTube from their trip, which have already received over 325,000 views.

Alex Jacobs, managing director Northern Secrets said: “We know visitors from the middle east regard Britain highly for its heritage, culture and shopping but also its scenery and outdoors. I’d watched the sisters’ videos and knew they like to really experience a destination and be adventurous so we devised a very varied itinerary with stately homes, shopping, hands on experiences as well as some extreme sports – all of which you can find in abundance here in the north of England. Now it’s great that the rest of the world will be able to see it to and hopefully inspire them to come and visit.”

Established in 2008 Northern Secrets is a small tour company based in Newcastle that specialises in trips and tours to Northern Britain. Bringing over 7000 people to the region every year it provides quality bespoke group holidays. It aims to not only bring people to the region but to let them really experience the north east.
