Elliot Group submits plans for 52-bed Baltic Place development

Developer Elliot Group has submitted plans for a six-story apartment block on Upper Pitt Street near Liverpool city centre.

The Baltic Place development will be located between Liverpool’s Chinatown, which is set to undergo a £200m transformation, and the city’s creative Baltic Triangle area.

Comprising 52 one-bedroom apartments for rent, the building has been designed by architecture practice Falconer Chester Hall and includes a courtyard, on-site gym and Chinese garden.

Elliot Lawless, managing director of Elliot Group, said: “Upper Pitt Street was the heart of Chinatown from the middle of the 19th Century until it moved towards Nelson Street.

“It’s now on Chinatown’s southern boundary and our designs for a Chinese garden have been carefully thought-through to pay proper respect to the area’s heritage.”

The scheme’s planning application has now been submitted and is expected to go before the city council’s planning committee in February. If consent is granted, work will begin in Spring 2016, with completion due in September.

Liverpool-based contractor Newry Construction has been appointed to deliver the project.

Elliot Group’s Baltic Place scheme is one of a number of Liverpool developments in the firm’s pipeline, including the multi-million pound transformation of Wolstenholme Square.
