Scene serve early Christmas present for Booth Centre

Scene Indian Street Kitchen served up an early Christmas treat for The Booth Centre yesterday afternoon (15th December) and cooked nearly £1000 worth of food for the centre’s regulars.

This heart warming gesture from the restaurant saw Scene’s kitchen staff and management head to The Booth Centre to cook and serve over 70 lunches for the Manchester homeless community and those in need. There wasn’t a leftover in sight as people tucked into their lunch leaving rave reviews with Managing Director, Asif Ali, as they handed in their empty plates.

Regular at the centre, Pavvel said, “This food is incredible, compliments to the chef! I could have a few more plates of this. It had the right amount of spice and the rice was out of this world. Thank you so much to those at Scene for making us amazing food.”

With temperatures plunging across the city, Scene Indian Street Kitchen, located in Spinningfields, hopes that they can use their business to help those in need who find themselves homeless over the festive season and give back to the local community. Scene will use this as a starting point for future ventures with The Booth Centre and other charities across Manchester and the North West in order to give back and undertake their corporate social responsibility.

Managing Director Asif Ali, who was serving the food, said, “We’re delighted that we could give something back to the community and cook our food for the Booth Centre. They do an amazing job and we were happy to give the volunteers a break for the day to give them a taste of Scene and bring them something different. We’re looking forward to starting a great partnership with The Booth Centre and help with anything we can.”

The Booth Centre is a day centre offering activities, advice and support to the homeless and people in need in Manchester. It is recognised as being one of the country’s leading day centres for the homeless and the work tirelessly to reduce the number of rough sleepers in Manchester.

Amy Hinks, Development Manager at the Booth Centre, said, “Christmas can be a challenging time for anybody, especially to those without a home and we’re so grateful that Scene came down and served some of their amazing food for our volunteers and visitors. We’ve been looking forward to this day for a while.”

In the new year Scene will be launching their new Tiffin boxes for a tasty takeaway option. A starter, main and side dish will be prepared for a speedy takeaway, all served in a handy carry box. If the reaction at the Booth Centre today is anything to go buy – the Tiffin boxes look like they’ll be a major hit!
