Winns Help Make Winter Warmer This Christmas

Local accident management specialists, Winn Solicitors, have participated in this year’s Making Winter Warmer Selection Box Appeal, which gathers donations to help the North East’s homeless community through the cold winter months.

The team have been rallying around to contribute as many selection boxes and chocolate gifts as possible to donate to the cause, which was organised by the Making Winter Warmer community group.

Digital Marketing Manager, Amy Thompson, said: “I’m thrilled with the participation from the team here at Winns. Staff from all different departments got involved this year and we managed to donate more than 70 selection boxes to people less fortunate than ourselves.

“We’re always keen to get involved with charity work, and endeavour to help with as many local and national causes as we can – especially during the festive season. We’re happy to be making a difference, however big or small, in the lives of those who are in need, and we hope others will get involved too and back this great, North East cause.”

The Selection Box Appeal was put together to make sure that homeless people in the North East, who would otherwise have nothing on Christmas Day, have a treat to open and to let them know they’re in the thoughts of others during the festive season. Many people will struggle to even have food, warm clothes and somewhere to sleep this winter, so the campaign is a great way to show someone from the homeless community that they’re not alone.

The Making Winter Warmer project, which is run solely by volunteers, is a local group whose aim is to improve the quality of life for members of the homeless community across the North East. They collect donations to create rucksacks filled with warm clothing, food, toiletries, sleeping bags and other necessities to aid those who are sleeping rough. Without the efforts of the Making Winter Warmer group, many people will suffer this winter, going without the basic needs that we often take for granted.
