BioClinics reveals European expansion plans

DNA, drug and alcohol testing firm BioClinics has revealed plans to expand into Europe and achieve a turnover of £2m over the next three years.

The Salford-based company will drive growth by rolling out its DNA testing service in Spain and Scandinavia, among other parts of the continent, in addition to opening an office in southern England.

BioClinics saw its revenue grow from £500k to £600k, an increase of 20%, in the year to August 2015.

The firm has also appointed a new director of sales and marketing, Simon Cady, who has 15 years of experience in workplace drug and alcohol testing.

BioClinics, which partnered up with the British Polygraph Network to launch a new lie detector testing service in the last financial year, employs a team of 14 at its Salford base.

Nichola McChrystal, BioClinics’ scientific director and founder, said: “We are entering into an extremely exciting period for the company.

“Simon’s arrival has strengthened our capabilities and the polygraph testing service has got off to a strong start.”

She added: “With several more new services in the pipeline and plans for expansion into Europe, we look to the future with confidence.”

In recent months, BioClinics also invested a five-figure sum into the purchase of a dozen new breathalyser devices to ramp up testing in sectors such as utilities, transport, and maritime security.
