Milk Jnr’s brings Christmas smiles to RMCH patients
Milk Jnr’s & Kidworks – the agency that specialises in creating engaging kids activity packs for some of the world’s biggest companies and family brands – brought a bucket load of festive cheer to the young patients at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) on Friday 18th December after delivering over 350 presents that its team had collected as part of a Christmas challenge set by the agency’s senior management.
Last Friday (11th December) the entire firm was split into two competing teams and challenged to plead and beg shops in Manchester city centre, the Trafford Centre and beyond into donating gifts for the hospital. The response was amazing with retailers handing over everything from cuddly toys, hats and gloves to toy cars, art and craft sets, role play sets, posters and musical instruments.
Major stores which donated included: Lego, BHS (Trafford Centre and city centre), The Entertainer, Morrisons in Openshaw & Denton, The Whitworth Art Gallery, Marks & Spencer in Wilmslow, The Co-Op, Tesco in Wilmslow and The Coronation Street Tour.
Lots of independents shops also took part such as Travelling Man, Alan Gregory Music plus many stalls in the Manchester Christmas Markets.
The present dash followed last month’s announcement that Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity (RMCH Charity) would be the agency’s chosen charity for 2015/ 2016.
Three represents from Milk Jnr’s & Kidworks (pictured) - Jasmyn Stott, Victoria Heneghan and Carl Tanner – delivered the haul of gifts.
RMCH is the largest single-site children’s hospital in the UK and provides care for over 220,000 children and young people each year. It has a national reputation for providing the best care in a variety of specialist fields. It is the main bone marrow transplantation unit outside of London and it has the largest specialist burns treatment and paediatric intensive care units in the country.
Zoe Telfer – Client Services Director at Milk Jnr’s & Kidworks - said: “When we decided to support RMCH Charity we knew that we wanted to really get involved and make a difference. Being in hospital is never enjoyable, but it’s even worse at Christmas. It was fantastic to collect so many gifts and the generosity of Manchester’s retailers really amazed us – we can’t thank them enough.“
Joel Oxberry, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’d like to thank the entire Milk Jnr’s and Kidworks team for their efforts and also the many shops which kindly donated. Seeing the children’s faces light up when the gifts arrived was amazing and there’s absolutely no doubt that this will have made Christmas 2015 one to remember.“
