Keep Well This Winter
It’s almost time to sit back, relax and put your feet up in front of some classic Christmas TV – but before that happens, there’s still a few days of shopping left and parties to attend.
To make sure you survive this Christmas unscathed, Nuffield Health’s Newcastle Hospital has developed a selection of top tips to keep you tip top over the festivities
When carrying large bags of shopping or presents, spread the load to present injuring your back. Carry bags in each hand and make multiple trips to the car
When wrapping presents, sit at the table with your paper, tape and scissors close by to prevent twisting the spine
Deliver your Christmas cards by hand to burn some calories, clear your head and release endorphins which are known to relieve the symptoms of stress and help you to relax
Avoid drinking too many mulled wines before bed. While alcohol may help you nod off, it will prevent you from having a good quality sleep and leave you feeling drowsy
Always lift large presents or heavy bags of shopping from your knees to prevent back strain
Nuffield is the UK’s largest healthcare charity and has two sites in Newcastle – the Nuffield Health Hospital in Jesmond and Nuffield Gym in Gosforth. Nuffield delivers a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient private healthcare treatments and services using the best possible technological facilities.
