Santa delivers special gifts to Sunderland Hospital

Children at the Sunderland Royal Hospital were treated to an early Christmas surprise when a group of festive customer service workers visited the Children’s ward to make a special delivery and brought Santa along with them.

Staff from EDF Energy, based at Doxford International Business Park, donated Christmas presents to give to children and youngsters on the paediatric, orthopaedic and ear, nose and throat wards.

Gifts were collected by EDF Energy employees Deanne Richardson, Stephen Haram and Nicola Frater to make sure the children had a special gift delivered to them from Santa this year.

Stephen Haram, [insert job title], who dressed up as Santa to deliver the gifts said: “The staff at the hospital do a great job and we wanted to add to that by bringing some festive cheer to the children’s unit.

“It was great to see the kids’ reactions when Santa arrived and we hope that we’ve made Christmas extra special for them this year, thanks to the generosity of our colleagues.”

“We’ve had a great response from everyone at EDF Energy. All of the team are very supportive when it comes to projects supporting the community.”

Pauline Palmer, Matron, at Sunderland Royal Hospital said: “We would like to thank everyone at EDF Energy Doxford for their kind donations. Each small present made a poorly child’s day and they were all thrilled to meet Santa, some of them for the first time. It was a very special day for the children, family members and staff.”
